The Role

The operation comprises several large estates in and around Newmarket, together with a number of remote sites.  There are over 350 buildings with a variety of uses. From state-of-the-art training yards with equine hydrotherapy equipment, to a range of residential accommodation and office buildings.  These facilities exist to support world class thoroughbred racehorse breeding and training, and it will be your role to help deliver them to a very high standard at all times.

As Mechanical and Electrical Services Coordinator, you will be responsible for works across a full spectrum of Mechanical and Electrical services. Your key tasks are as follows:

  • Identify M&E service Infrastructure risks and deliver life-cycle replacement strategy.
  • Determine future year programme requirements and submit budget cost information for approval along with a justification and description of carried risks.
  • Manage the annual recurring programme of M&E statutory maintenance (Boiler Servicing, Electrical Testing, Lightning Protection System Inspections etc.).
  • Respond to requests from Senior Management or requirements identified for service infrastructure enhancements to support operations:
    • Determine and propose solutions to include modifications, upgrades or new installation of services to support operational requirements.
    • Engage with industry partners to establish specification, scope of work parameters and financial requirements.
    • On financial approval, project manage delivery within scope of assigned role.
  • Manage a wide range of reactive requirements, many of which have an immediate impact on the main operational outputs of the company related to infrastructure assets, such as main electrical switch gear, generators, BMS system, fuel storage & supply, sewage treatment, boilers and air conditioning plant etc:
    • Develop specification to deliver required output.
    • Evaluate returned quotations and tenders determining best solution and value for money.
    • Secure required financial authorisations.
    • Project Manage contract delivery ensuring safe and effective completion of required works.
  • Support the Compliance and Contracts manager:
    • Provide technical input and feedback to enable effective management of in-place maintenance contracts and aid the evaluation of contract proposals for new planned maintenance.
    • Provide technical input and feedback to ensure compliance issues are effectively managed.

The Successful Applicant

Whilst we will consider individuals from a range of different backgrounds for the role, the following skills, knowledge and behaviours will be important:

Technically qualified (Mechanical or Electrical) HND or above preferred.

Experience within the FM industry and with CAFM and BMS systems.

IOSH and/or NEBOSH preferred.

A proficient communicator with the ability to effectively interconnect at all levels.

Exemplary organisational skills. The ability to prioritise is fundamental.

Competent use of Microsoft Office suite is essential.

Salary ranges from £35,000 - £42,000 per annum dependent on experience, in addition to an impressive benefits package including private health and dental care, a company car, life assurance, a contributory pension of 6% and a discretionary Christmas bonus.
