HEAD OF ESTATE OPERATIONS

Base: Estates Department, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Truro

We are looking for a highly experienced Estates Professional to join our Estates & Facilities Department where you will head up the Estate Operations Team.  You will be responsible for a team of circa. 50 staff managing estate maintenance, statutory compliance, estates help desk, backlog maintenance, fire safety, minor new works and energy & utilities management.    

You will be very experienced in delivering operational management and maintenance of highly complex buildings and engineering services that are critical to patient care and will be the Trust’s engineering expert.  You will a key member of the Department’s senior management team and will operate across the whole Department in support our of mission ‘to provide, maintain and develop brilliant environments for patients and staff to meet the Trust’s needs of today and those of the future’.

You will be a highly capable Estates Professional used to working within a very complex and large organisation with multiple stakeholders and dealing with numerous requests and issues at any one time.  You will be the Trust’s engineering expert and have detailed understanding and professional knowledge of highly complex engineering services associated with an acute hospital.  You provide highly specialist professional engineering expertise to directors, clinicians, senior managers and staff throughout the Trust and be adept at translating complex engineering issues into a format that can be understood.

The role will require you to be corporately minded individual, have excellent organisational and communication skills, well developed programme management and change management capabilities, an eye for detail and ability to use your own initiative.  You will be expected to embrace changes in the delivery of health care and to identify and implement innovative solutions that support the Trust’s strategic objectives and to provide an effective estates operations service which exceeds the expectations of patients, visitors and staff.   

The successful candidate will be expected to have a flexible approach to working hours as befits a 24 hour / 7 day service of the Estates & Facilities Department, including out of hours attendance at work and On-Call Engineer duties.

This is a full time post working 37 ½ hours per week.
