Building Services Manager – Ford and Etal Estates Property Department: The Role
Ford and Etal Estates is looking for a head of department for their property maintenance team. The successful applicant will be responsible for heading up the department and for delivering a property maintenance service across the Estate. Responsibilities will involve:
- Leadership of the Estate’s in-house building maintenance team (currently composed of five tradesmen)
- Procuring work from external contractors, including preparing specifications of work and obtaining competitive tenders
- Taking the lead within the department in relation to health and safety, and all aspects of compliance
- Preparation of budgets, and costings for work
The successful applicant is expected to take ownership of the activities of their department, and will carry responsibility for delivery of maintenance of Estate properties to a high standard, in a safe and cost-effective manner. The Building Services Manager will report to the Managing Agent.
Ford and Etal Estates
Ford and Etal Estates is a privately owned landed Estate situated predominantly in attractive North Northumberland. The Estate includes 200 residential properties, as well as numerous agricultural and commercial buildings, and other structures. There are also a large number of heritage properties within the Estate, including the substantial Grade I listed Ford Castle, and numerous other historically significant buildings. The Estate invests heavily in maintaining and improving its properties to keep them up to modern standards, and has an enviable reputation for the quality of its housing stock.
The Successful Candidate
The Estate is looking for an excellent communicator, with project delivery experience and understanding, and strong personnel management skills. The successful applicant will have relevant experience and qualifications in the building, project management or facilities management sector.
