To help deliver this ambition the Estates team need to recruit Assistant Director – Campus Facilities. 

Your New Role 
This role will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of a first-class Facilities Management (soft FM) service; establishing quality communication mechanisms, excellent management information processes and procedures as well as delivery of excellent customer service standards to a wide customer base. 

A key requirement will be the ability to develop the in-house team of 100 staff and deliver a strong sense of leadership, ensuring the University delivers the very best service levels to its customers.

You will lead provision of high quality, effective and value for money facilities services, including Cleaning, Security, Portering, Post, Catering and Commercial Services, Sports and Active lifestyles and any other activities required to support the University’s operations across the Estate. Operating at both a strategic and operational level, the post holder will lead and motivate a largescale in-house team as well as external contracted services and associated budgets with a value of around £1.5M.

The role holder will be required to travel between university sites (Stafford, Lichfield and Shrewsbury) on occasions, however the position will predominantly be based at the Stoke campus.

Experience Required 
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a related discipline and relevant professional qualification e.g. BIFM and or equivalent. Experience of contributing to the strategic leadership within an estate’s environment and development of effective strategic links across a large, complex multi-site organisation is essential. You will also be able to provide demonstrable financial management experience, with a track record of managing high value budgets. Other experience required includes extensive practical experience of facilities management including the management of catering, cleaning, security, portering and post. Finally, you will need extensive practical experience of successfully leading, managing and motivating a large, high-performing number of in house teams.

About You 
The successful candidate must have excellent communication and leadership skills and a strong working knowledge of the legal compliance framework for facilities including Health & Safety legislation. You will possess excellent organisational skills with experience of managing multiple activities with competing deadlines and challenging budgets and can manage performance at individual and operational level e.g. developing, managing and reporting on service KPI’s. Finally you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the University’s strategic plan and a commitment to the University values.
