Your new organisation
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is a unitary authority based in the heart of the town centre offering traditional seaside living that makes it a great place to live and work. This diverse and busy town has great public parks and leisure activities, competitive house pricing and excellent travel links. The Council are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed professional who would like to come and work within their Building Control team. There are a number of large and interesting projects in the pipeline, from major residential schemes and large seafront leisure developments along with day-to-day householder projects.
Your new role
You will assist in the effective delivery of the Building Control function and ensure that the Council’s obligations under the Building Act and associated legislation with regards to health and safety, welfare and convenience of persons in or about buildings are administered and enforced. This will include a multitude of tasks including site inspections, plan checking and completing enforcement actions. You will gain excellent training and assistance in order to increase your skills and knowledge levels, which may also include external training as required.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you need to have either a qualification in Building Control/Building Surveying or have gained relevant construction experience and be looking to make the next step in your career. A full driving licence is essential and you will require access to a vehicle for work purposes.
