The British Museum is seeking a Head of Capital Projects to lead on the strategic management of capital programming within our historic Grade 1 listed building. The post-holder will work with senior stakeholders to lead and manage the teams responsible for capital planning, strategic programme alignment and management, and project delivery.

 

Key areas of responsibility:

 

Provide effective leadership to the Museum's capital programmes and projects activity: driving the delivery of capital planning, programming and budgets, from inception to final handoverDevelop a strategic approach to capital planning in collaboration with the Head of CPPM, Programme Managers and senior management teamEnsure that investment programmes are fully integrated and coordinated, designing out any risk of duplicationIdentify and develop business improvement strategies that support continuous improvement initiatives to enable enhanced service qualityDevelop and maintain fit-for-purpose governance structures, contract/project management and reporting processes for end to end project life-cycles, including a project control framework for effective management of risks, issues and qualityPerson specification:

 

The ideal candidate will have significant experience of project management involving multidisciplinary teams in a complex built environment, including extensive capital development experience. Educated to degree level, or equivalent, you will possess a project management qualification, such as the Association of Project Managers or equivalent experience, and will have membership of (or working towards) a Built Environment Professional Body or Association e.g. RIBA, CIOB, RICS, etc. We are looking for a delivery focused and self-motivated individual, who can successfully lead and engage a team. As a skilled influencer and negotiator, you will be able to effectively communicate highly complex technical information to non-technical staff at all levels.
