We are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to lead our facilities and estates management nationally. This position is ideal for a Head of Estates and Facilities ready to take on a larger portfolio or transition into the health sector, or an experienced Facilities and Estates Manager ready to take their next step.

This position is an exciting leadership role, providing the successful candidate autonomy including to further develop our facilities team and enhance our estates in line with our high standards and business objectives.

Duties and responsibilities

Department and premises

 Lead the facilities team, including the expansion of the national field based team

 Hold accountability for estates and facilities budgets

 Develop and implement strategic business plans for the estates and facilities functions.

 Maintain an effective Environmental Management System

 Investigate the availability and suitability of options for new premises

 Setup and ensure the operation of auditing and monitoring programmes, ensuring overall appearance, quality and compliance of estates, placing positive customer satisfaction and quality at the forefront of all activities

 Coordinate and oversee programmes of work such as refurbishment, relocation, and opening/closure of facilities / estates,always ensuring that future buildings and facilities are safe and fit for purpose meeting the requirements of the CQC and other regulatory bodies

 Provide regular reports as may be required, on estates and facilities performance (including Key Performance indicators) for the Leadership Team

Contractor Management

 Lead all facilities contractor tendering and management

 Project lead, supervise and coordinate the work of contractors so that maintenance works are carried out to an acceptable professional and technical standard, in compliance with our expectations and statutory obligations

Health, Safety & Risk

 Ensure legislative, regulatory and company policy compliance for all relevant areas managing risks and associated mitigating actions and working closely with the Health & Safety Officer and other colleagues across the organisation

 Ensure general and specific risk assessments are carried out and recorded in line with all health and safety requirements and that a culture of positive risk management is embedded across all areas

 Participate and/or lead in the investigation of incidents or near misses should they arise and assist in the coordination of remedial actions and lessons learned

 Support our infection prevention control systems ensuring we achieve and maintain high standards.

Essential skills and experience

 Previous experience working in a Head of Facilities & Estates, or Senior Facilities Manager with accountability for company estates

 Previous line management experience and responsibility for a facilities team

 

 Previous responsibility and experience for negotiating commercial terms / lease renewals with a large number of business estates and tendering for significant supplier contracts

 Project management experience in organising and monitoring building and contractors works

 Relevant HND level qualification or above

 Membership of BIFM

 Previous budget responsibility/ accountability

Desirable skills and experience

 Bachelors degree

 Health & Safety Qualification e.g. NEBOSH , IOSH

 Previous experience in the healthcare industry

 Previous experience of supply chain management
