About the role
At the Canal & River Trust, we believe life’s better by water, and that the waterways we take care of have an important contribution to make to the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies. To help us achieve our long-term goals, we have recently realigned our national structure to six regions – and we are now looking for an experienced facilities management professional who can help us reposition our main offices in the Northwest in line with our new structure of the UK
While overseeing this highly complex rationalisation and relocation project, you will also be responsible for delivering a professional facilities function and for managing a small project team of stakeholders. Although you will be based at one of our offices either in Liverpool, Northwich, Ellesmere Port or Wigan, the role will require you to travel regularly between sites across the North West.
About you
We’re looking for someone with the background and practical skill-set required to deliver a first-class facilities management and office relocation project. This includes experience of estates rationalisation, change management and the proven ability to lead a small team. It is essential that you understand the need to deliver this project with sensitivity to our North West team colleagues & stakeholders. You will have the skills and experience to listen to and translate concerns, as well as work with people to develop potential solutions and also deliver any change with empathy. Your approachability, interpersonal and communication skills will ensure that you are able to engage effectively with multiple stakeholders.
About us
We’re the charity who look after and bring to life 2000 miles of canals and rivers. Our waterways contribute to the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies, creating attractive and connected places to live, work, volunteer and spend leisure time. These historic, natural and cultural assets form part of the strategic and local green-blue infrastructure network, linking urban and rural communities as well as habitats. Our waterways are on the doorstep of 8 million people and reach some of the most deprived communities within the UK. By caring for our waterways and promoting their use we believe we can improve the wellbeing of our nation. Come and be part of it.
To apply
We aim to represent the diverse communities we are part of and welcome applicants from across all sectors of the community. We strongly believe that a diverse workforce brings with it a diversity of ideas, thinking and ways of working which enhances what we do. Many of our vacancies can be considered for people who wish to work flexibly, job share or part time.
