We’re looking for an experienced facilities management supervisor/manager, with a keen desire to teach, to channel their enthusiasm in the delivery of our apprenticeship provision!
University College of Estate Management (UCEM) is the leading provider of supported online education for the Built Environment. Currently celebrating our 100th year as an institution, we have a wealth of history and experience in providing the highest quality learning opportunities. At any one time, we have over 3,500 students from more than 100 countries benefiting from our qualifications. UCEM helps to enhance Built Environment professional careers through our accredited property-related and construction programmes, offered at Postgraduate, Undergraduate and Apprenticeship levels. Our centenary year has inspired our new vision to be the Centre of Excellence for Built Environment Education, appropriately abbreviated ‘CX’ to help us look to the future and lead our strategy for the next 10 years. This is all to achieve our core purpose of providing accessible, relevant and cost-effective online education, producing leading talent for a better Built Environment.
You will be primarily focused on teaching and assessing for UCEM Facilities Management Apprenticeship programmes and monitoring the overall progress of an allocated caseload of apprentices. For each allocated apprentice you will be required to create and implement an individual learning plan (ILP), as well as motivate and support them to achieve success in their studies. Most of the off-the-job training will be through UCEM’s virtual learning environment (VLE). You will be required to support the VLE-based delivery through webinars and managing online forums. You will also be required to undertake tutorials and progress reviews with each apprentice - these will typically be at 10-week intervals. Tutorials and progress reviews will be through a combination of face-to-face and virtual meetings. Initially the role will focus on the delivery of the Level 3 Facilities Management Supervisor Apprenticeship but will extend and develop as UCEM’s facilities management apprenticeship provision grows.
Key qualities we’re looking for include:
- Relevant professional body membership or willingness to attain (e.g. MIFWM, CIWFM, FIWFM, AssocRICS, MRICS)
- Level 3 Assessing qualification (or willingness to attain)
- FE Teaching qualification (or willingness to attain)
- Minimum Level 2 Maths and English (or willingness to attain)
- Relevant experience in Facilities Management discipline – supervisory or management
- Impeccable communication skills
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Intermediate IT skills and passion in using technology to enhance learning
- Ability to motivate and enthuse others
- Up-to-date knowledge of FM industry and practice
Internal QA qualification(s) and H&S qualification(s) are desirable but not essential.
At UCEM we expect all our employees to demonstrate our values: Passion, Integrity, Excellence and Support.
