The Natural and Environmental Research Council (NERC) is a partner organisation within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) is part of NERC and is the UK's Centre of Excellence for integrated research in terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and their interaction with the atmosphere.
The plan is for CEH to move outside the public sector to become a not for profit research organisation with charitable status. We will continue to be funded as now by a mixture of NERC and competitively won income.

About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Estates Manager to enable development and delivery of high quality estates facilities and laboratories to CEH to support our delivery of world class research in environmental sciences
You will support the Head of Facilities and Operational Services in ensuring the first-class delivery of Building Services and you will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient delivery of service by achieving high standards of health and safety and risk reduction.
You will manage the delivery of reactive and planned works relating to building fabric, M&E and a broad range of compliance activities. You will assist and support the development and implementation of specific projects or project options designed to implement the strategy.
You will ensure projects/services are delivered safely, ensuring the wellbeing of staff; adequately resourced; delivered to a high quality; within budget to the client’s brief and on time. You will apply the highest standards of project management, communicate changes to the programme and problem solve any blockages to delivery.
You will have extensive experience in working in an Estates and capital planning/project management role, and in-depth knowledge of CDM 2015, L8 Control of Legionella, SFG20 and management of Asbestos at Work Regulations.
You must be qualified to Degree / HNC level in an Estates and Facilities discipline or equivalent experience, plus specialist knowledge acquired through courses and experience to Master’s level or equivalent.
You will show the ability to lead, direct and motivate a multi-disciplinary Estates team working to deadlines, and translate the organisation’s policies and development plans into a strategic planning process. You will also have proven skills and knowledge in the management of buildings and building services, and significant ability in formulating development plans and policies.
