About the role

The Estates Operations Manager (Hard Services) role is a key management role, providing professional technical support to the Regional Head of Estates & Facilities Management (FM), and the operational service managers based at the Daresbury Laboratory (DL), however there will be rare occasions when support may be offered to, and a physical presence required at the Astronomy Technology Centre (ATC) and Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL).

You will have direct responsibility for all hard services at DL and will provide indirect technical support to the soft services teams.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • providing the day to day tactical management and oversight of the operational delivery of core estates and facilities management services including maintenance, compliance, surveys, project management and management data
  • maximise the engagement and satisfaction of core customer groups including staff, tenants and partners through established and new communication mechanisms lead, motivate and engage Estate Services staff to maximise the potential of both individuals and teams
  • developing policies, plans, processes and procedures to ensure compliance, value for money, and consistency of quality.

About you

It is essential that you have a first degree or equivalent NVQ qualification relating to the built environment and professional membership of the IWFM, RICS or CIOB. You will also hold a NEBOSH General Certificate and a formal Project Management qualification e.g. PRINCE2, APM etc.

You will have extensive working knowledge and experience of the estates and facilities management sector and experience of leading and developing the potential of individuals and teams within an estates function.
