An exciting, newly created position with a corporate office environment business allowing growth and development of the position.

Engaging with key stakeholders in each office (circa 25 across UK) to deliver a continuous message regarding H&S and compliance.

Client Details

My client is a FTSE 250 business operating in a number of offices across the UK. They are currently going through a restructure and have created a new position of H&S Manager to help put in place policies and procedures across the group.

They have been established for over 30 years and operate on a global scale. You will be covering the property portfolio in the UK only, which consists of 95% leasehold properties.

My client is keen to meet with candidates experienced working in a corporate office environment as well as showing strong knowledge of statutory compliance.

Description

H&S Manager - Corporate office environment

This is a regional position and you will be expected to be based in Reading at least 2-3 times per week in order to sit with the FM team. The rest of the time you will likely be out visiting other offices, working alongside the Senior FM.

  • You will have overall responsibility for health & safety matters in the UK, ensuring a safe workplace and safe work activities without risk to health
  • Promote and develop a safety culture within the business, liaising with internal stakeholders as required
  • Identify all work related hazards and then draft, distribute and keep updated suitable and sufficient risk assessments
  • Maintain a library of H&S procedures relevant to the operations of the company
  • Keep up to date with legislative changes and provide H&S related advice to senior management
  • Advise the Director of Property and Facilities on his responsibilities and obligations as the legal duty holder
  • Draft and promulgate H&S reports and provide relevant training to line managers
  • Oversee the health and safety aspects of business travel (including high risk destination risk mitigation and company events)
  • Oversee continuous delivery of improved environmental performance and promote a positive culture towards reducing the company's adverse impact on the environment
  • Crisis management experience and disaster recovery or business continuity planning experience will be a big advantage in this position. You will be responsible for putting in place disaster recovery plans for all offices across the business
  • Responsible for budget oversight and securing best value for H&S services

Profile

H&S Manager - Corporate office environment

  • Ideally qualified with NEBOSH general certificate, with a NEBOSH Environmental Management certificate preferred
  • Thorough knowledge required of H&S legislation in UK and be willing to develop knowledge of other regions
  • Have a sound understanding in and experience of managing environmental matters and crisis management programmes
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • An exceptional eye for detail and proactive approach to resolving problems
  • Needs to be commercially astute when dealing with contractors and service providers, reviewing quotes and contracts
  • Able to work collaboratively with a small team to develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the business
  • Be a member of IIRSM or IOSH
  • Familiar with using various CAFM systems
