Capital Projects Manager for Grade 1 listed building
The Reform Club has an opening for an experienced Project Manager on a fixed term, contract basis to oversee our upcoming Capital Projects.
The Reform Club’s large, Grade 1 listed building on Pall Mall serves as luxury home from home for its Members, as it has done since its construction in 1841. The building and its superb interiors are internationally renowned, and the Club is keen to update the building and some of its functions to fit in with the expectations of modern consumers, while respecting the history and maintaining the splendour for which the Clubhouse is famous.
With oversight from the Head of Buildings, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing and delivering the Club's capital building infrastructure and refurbishment works programme, for which ring-fenced funds are available, including making the Club House accessible; window refurbishment; façade cleaning; a new lift installation; the creation of a new bar; restructure of the Front Hall; emergency evacuation development and facilities development projects. The post holder will be required to successfully manage all projects from initial feasibility study through to the commissioning, project handover and post project evaluation.
The successful candidate will boast significant experience of identifying, procuring and managing a variety of projects from inception to completion in a project leadership role. You will have a track record of working effectively either in or with a large scale, complex organisation on projects and buildings of a technically complex nature (ideally including experience of heritage environments). You will also possess strong financial/budgetary management skills and experience, with a high level of commercial acumen.
With a strong customer focus essential, it is vital that the Project Manager has exceptional interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to work in a collaborative and diplomatic manner in a leadership capacity. The Project Manager will need to quickly build strong and collaborative working relationships with the Club's CEO, Head of Buildings and Heads of Departments in particular.
The successful candidate must demonstrate effective planning and management of projects and ensure delivery of the services to the highest possible standards. Experience dealing with listed building consent/planning applications and managing Conservation groups is also required.
The post holder must ensure high quality architectural, engineering, M&E and surveying advice and in addition compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements. They will take overall responsibility for planning, managing and monitoring the delivery of all FM capital projects and must ensure these projects are delivered on time, within budget, representing value for money and achieving a high level of satisfaction with service departments.
The following skills, qualifications and experience are required to fulfil the role:
- At least 5 years’ demonstrable experience in Project management, including 2015 CDM regulations as to contract management, tendering, for contracts exceeding £5m.
- Experience working on building projects in a listed/ heritage building environment.
- Track record of managing successful programme and project delivery in line with desired outcomes and agreed quality, time and cost limits.
- Experience working successfully on multiple projects at the same time.
- Knowledge of and experience in successfully applying recognised programme and project management methodologies.
- Proven experience of appropriate use of project management tools and techniques to enable successful programme and project delivery
- Membership of a Professional body (APM)
- Experienced using Microsoft project
