Your role

TEDI-London is a new provider in the HE Sector with a developing campus portfolio. We will have students, staff and visiting industry and academic partners. Spaces will be high functioning and highly utilised, friendly, welcoming and supportive  to learning.

 

Our subject matter is engineering and our pedagogy innovative. Spaces will be dedicated to project working and contain general and specialised equipment. These facilities will be supported by academic and technical staff who together with the Campus and Facilities Manager will oversee the health and safety and assurance requirements for the overall facility.  

Space: Initially in temporary spaces being fitted out for our purpose by British Land at Canada Water (10,000 ft2) and transition to a more permanent purpose-built structure in the next 2 years (up to 50,000 ft2 potentially). 

 

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the estate, health and safety, security, campus operations and facilities

• Lead and manage risk assessment and operational Health and Safety provisions 

• Liaise with the landlord, operator, planners and contractors, scope and procure services and manage and monitor contracts and performance

• Support and embed principles of value for money and sustainability

• Develop the Campus operations strategy and integration of campus operations (hard and soft services) with academic and premises strategies, embedding these strategies in policy and in space planning/design and operations

• Oversee all facilities operations

• Oversee all aspects of Health and Safety reporting including reporting to the H&S Committee on strategy, risks and issues

• Secure assurance and independent review in the operation of the estate, statutory provisions and best practice

• Coordinate activities for the next stage space review for campus design, bringing together academic and space expertise to deliver a high quality, highly valued facility which is integrated with future management, sustainability and efficiency

About you

Essential

Qualifications

• Relevant FM qualification – member of an appropriate professional body

• NEBOSH/ IOSH qualification

 

Experience

• Able to demonstrate practical and detailed experience in general campus facilities management in the education/ engineering/manufacturing sector

• Management of a broad portfolio of activities which includes direct staff management, service contracts monitoring, KPI management etc 

• Experience of compliance/ H&S regulations pertaining to building management, user/student management and project delivery

• Led or contributed to the development of strategy and policy for campus facilities

• Led services as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary team

• Strong experience in health and safety management ideally in an education and laboratory setting – knows how to support student safe working environments

• Has developed and managed budgets for a broad range of services and maintenance provision

• Able to demonstrate scoping required services, service level agreements, KPI’s and supported the development of contracts

• Experience in negotiation, development and maintenance of positive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including senior management and students

• Demonstrable self-motivation and ability to work without supervision, able to lead and develop others

This role is offered by TEDI-London to be part of our developing management team. The role will assume responsibility for estates and related matters for TEDI-London.
