The role and its responsibilities
The Maintenance Technician’s role is to support the Maintenance and Compliance Manager and Senior Site Engineer in delivering maintenance, reactive repair and minor works whilst ensuring the health and safety of the SOAS environment for the students, staff and visitors. The Maintenance Technician will work as part of a wider team and will report to the Maintenance and Compliance Manager. The role holder will have a commitment to providing excellent customer service to enhance the estate and the student experience alongside working with internal and external stakeholders and tenants on a regular basis.
Skills and experience
The post holder will need proven experience in general building maintenance which includes plumbing, electrical, painting and general building repairs. You will also need an understanding of reactive and planned preventative maintenance systems and procedures. The post holder will also be required to undertake small installation works as and when required. You will also need and be able to apply general practical Health and Safety knowledge.
The post requires good communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team and on individual assignments. You will need to be a qualified technician with NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds in plumbing.

About the Estates and Facilities Directorate
The Estates and Facilities Directorate is responsible for the delivery of the Estates and Infrastructure Strategy which covers the areas of major construction and refurbishment projects; facilities operation and space management, including timetabling and energy management. The Directorate aims to ensure that the quality, functionality and operation of the estate and its associated infrastructure meets the needs of its users and supports the activities of the School.
