We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Facilities Management professional to join our FM team here in Reading!

University College of Estate Management (UCEM) is the leading provider of supported online education for the Built Environment. Currently celebrating our 100th year as an institution, we have a wealth of history and experience in providing the highest quality learning opportunities. At any one time, we have over 3,500 students from more than 100 countries benefiting from our qualifications.  UCEM helps to enhance Built Environment professional careers through our accredited property-related and construction programmes, offered at Postgraduate, Undergraduate and Apprenticeship levels. Our centenary year has inspired our new vision to be the Centre of Excellence for Built Environment Education, appropriately abbreviated ‘CX’ to help us look to the future and lead our strategy for the next 10 years. This is all to achieve our core purpose of providing accessible, relevant and cost-effective online education, producing leading talent for a better Built Environment.

Within this role you will be responsible for the operational functions at our Horizons office in central Reading – this includes reception, meeting rooms, parking and deliveries into the building. You will ensure exemplary levels of customer service from your team and lead on H&S; guaranteeing a clean, accessible and hygienic office environment. You will not only use your knowledge and experience to develop policies and procedures, but also devise implementation plans to embed these within UCEM. You will be accountable for any shortfalls in service delivery, resolving any issues in a timely manner and effectively coaching your team to ensure excellence in the FM services provided. This is a great opportunity to join a hard-working and dedicated team, always striving towards our vision to be a Centre of Excellence and fully enable student success.

Key qualities we’re looking for include:

  • Minimum level 2 English and Maths (e.g. GCSE grade C or higher)
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification
  • People management/supervisory experience
  • Knowledge and experience of FM operations
  • Proven ability in developing new policies and procedures
  • Experience undertaking and writing Risk Assessments
  • Impeccable communication and relationship building skills
  • Excellent IT skills with a profound aptitude to pick new systems quickly
  • Ability and agility to work flexibly and accurately under pressure
  • A NEBOSH qualification is highly desirable, but not essential for this post

At UCEM we expect all our employees to demonstrate our values: Passion, Integrity, Excellence and Support.
