Client side – Building services Design Manager

My client is leading Leisure operator with a significant opening program and leisure portfolio.

As a result of continued growth and expansion they require an M&E / building services design Manager to join its professional property team from a head office in London.

Role

To be fully accountable for developing, owning and evolving the Mechanical and Electrical specifications for each site format; and to lead the design of bespoke M&E solutions for non-standard developments.

Typical work activities include:

• Reviewing the existing M&E specifications for each project format with consideration of where and how improvements can be delivered.
• Owning all M&E specifications with a mindset of continuous improvement.
• Providing cost effective, continuously improving M&E solutions, at format by format level; and at a development by development level when required.
• Reviewing M&E contractors’ designs for both compliance with specifications and for cost efficiencies.
• Working with and managing where necessary 3^rd party contractors and consultancies, ensuring service/work delivered is at the appropriate standard and cost.
• Leading the design of bespoke M&E solutions for non-standard gym developments.
• Validating M&E installations in challenging sites.
• Inputting into the cost management of M&E solutions and requirements for each format.
• Working with Procurement to ensure all related equipment and material requirements are suitable and cost effective.
• Continuously looking to deliver energy saving solutions within M&E requirements and installations.
• Providing recognition, support and encouragement to peers to ensure all team objectives are met.

Qualifications and training required:

Candidates should be accredited by an appropriate professional body, such as the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineering (CIBSE) or the Institution of Mechanical Engineering (IMechE).
