As part of substantial investment in Estates Maintenance Services resource, Harper Adams University is looking for an Estates Maintenance Service Manager to lead the Estates Maintenance Services team. The role will look after all the reactive and planned estates maintenance required on the University estate using both in-house trade staff and external contractors. Reporting directly to the Head of Estates and Facilities, the post-holder will manage a customer focussed, efficient team that works together cooperatively & has pride in their work at the University.

This is a challenging role working at a University with a significant academic reputation set in beautiful surroundings. The post-holder will manage a large maintenance budget & will be a significant part of the University support services in delivering estates maintenance to ensure that the campus & its wider estate continue to offer a high quality environment that is attractive to prospective students, current students & staff in a well presented, safe & legally compliant manner.

The post-holder will require essential excellent interpersonal skills, have a strong team history of leadership, organisation & management. They will have a background in maintenance & construction related activities (surveying, construction, construction consultancy services). They will be motivated, diligent & will work flexibly to embrace ongoing challenges in a very competitive & dynamic Higher Education Sector.

The role will be based at the campus set in beautiful countryside close to the Shropshire market town of Newport. The University estate has an area of 143 hectares, with approximately c30,000sqm of non-residential buildings plus approximately 800 beds in student halls (c17,700sqm). With a range of modern teaching and research facilities, some beautiful historic buildings, student services and sports facilities as well as some high-tech engineering facilities work will be varied. The campus is surrounded by the University’s 600 hectare Farm, but is in easy reach of Cheshire,  Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, and the West Midlands.
