We are currently seeking a dynamic individual who has the capacity to take facilities management responsibility for our £1.7billion property portfolio, with oversight of a £12million capital maintenance budget and an £8million partner contract. Across 350 buildings, you will ensure our employees have access to the most suitable working environments, and you will maintain our school estate. With every day presenting high-profile challenges, you will adopt ownership of strategic planning, tactical interaction and day-to-day operations. Working closely with our property colleagues, your work will cover a wide range of building types and sites, ensuring a financially sustainable future. Anticipating and mitigating risks, you will constantly seek out ways to improve how we work, and you will maximise the benefits of our partner delivery contract.

Knowledge, skills and experience

To make the most of this multi-layered role, you will have significant facilities and contract management experience in local government or a large corporation, with the capacity to balance the needs of multiple projects and stakeholders. Excellent communication and people management skills are essential, and you will have a good understanding of building legislation, governance processes and health and safety at work. You will have a degree in the built environment, property or facilities management, and you will hold professional membership of a property or facilities body. You will also have a comprehensive understanding of the directives to construction.

While many of the challenges that you face will involve planned maintenance, there will inevitably be a small degree of out-of-hours work – in instances of floods, building failures and so forth.
