Kingston University London is seeking to appoint a Sustainability Manager with a focus on operations and environmental compliance to work within its multi-disciplinary Estates team.

Kingston University is a leading London University with 16,000 students and 2,000 staff based across 5 teaching campuses in and around Kingston upon Thames.  With 4 successful faculties across a broad range of subjects and annual income over £200m the University is continually developing and improving its estate. This is an important client facing role in the Estates professional team – a team which provides strategic planning, design and project management, space and property management, energy management, biodiversity management and other expert advice to the University.

In this key influential role the Sustainability Manager (Operations) will utilise operational sustainability expertise to lead on environmental compliance and to enable directorates and project working groups to deliver the University's objective of operating efficiently and minimising environmental impact.  You will promote sustainable practice and propose opportunities to increase the effectiveness of sustainability integration in all aspects of the University’s operations.  Compliance is a key element of the role, with the postholder being responsible for running and improving an existing Environmental Management System (EMS) which includes a legislation register, risk register and aspects and impacts register.

The successful candidate will fully understand environmental compliance requirements and have significant experience of developing and implementing sustainability strategy with a track record of continual improvement .  You will have a strong background in developing and implementing sustainability plans, projects and programmes, covering the full spectrum of sustainability / environmental issues.  Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills together with the capability to work in a cross-functional way are required in this role.
