Job Details
Royal Museums Greenwich is an epic place of exploration. A UNESCO World Heritage Site in the heart of Maritime Greenwich, we’re home to the National Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory Greenwich, Peter Harrison Planetarium, the Queen’s House art gallery, the Cutty Sark, and the recently opened Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre. Currently, we welcome over 2.4 million visitors annually who come to discover sea and space exploration, pioneering architecture, art and British history.
Right now, we’re looking for a relevantly qualified and experienced individual to play an important role within our Estates and Facilities team that keeps our buildings and grounds in excellent condition, good working order and running smoothly. Your challenge will be to manage the planned preventative maintenance and testing of mechanical and electrical and co-ordinate reactive repairs and small works requests across the estate. But that’s not all. We’ll also rely on you to liaise with colleagues and external consultants on special projects and manage site-based M&E and specialist contractors. And, when it comes to providing expert technical advice, preparing and issuing tenders, managing the M&E budget and identifying and implementing energy saving measures, again, we’ll count on you to deliver.
To succeed, you’ll need City and Guilds 236 Part C ONC/HNC/HND and an apprenticeship in mechanical/electrical engineering/building services, or equivalent. Experience in a similar environment and role is essential too, as is sound knowledge of Health and Safety regulations. Comfortable working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you also have the communication skills it takes to liaise at all levels and act as a departmental ambassador. What’s more, you’re used to to managing budgets and proficient using MS Office and BMS packages.
