Location

Salary
Salary: Up to £55,474 Grade: A
Closing date

We are seeking a hands-on, proactive and experienced professional to join the facilities team in the People & Organisational Development department at the Institute of Physics.

Our move to a purpose built public-facing building in the Kings Cross knowledge quarter signals a change for IOP and the traditional perception of a Learned Society and Professional Body.  The space includes a 180 capacity lecture theatre, a public gallery that is used for art and other cultural shows supported by high specification technology and experimental technology that will allow us to showcase advancement in physics from around the UK and Ireland.

The building is home to our 100 staff based in London, and a home from home for our 70 staff based around the UK and Ireland. With two open plan floors and no offices for any senior staff including the CEO, our move from a traditional building allows us to think differently about how we work together and collaborate with colleagues based elsewhere.

This change is requiring us to think differently about how we reflect our culture and values in our teams and the new working environment and what that means for our building facilities management.

By combining our HR, Facilities & IT teams within one senior lead, the people and working environment strategies are working towards being based on a strong values-based culture across the organisation.  Helping us to successfully change the traditional perception of our organisation and move us towards recognition as an exemplar employer.

The role

This is an exciting and dynamic Facilities Management role where you will be able to make change and adapt to ensure the needs of the IOP is achieved. As Facilities Manager you will have direct responsibility for all aspects of Facilities management for our Head Office in central London and our satellite offices across the UK and Ireland. This role will ensure that those working for us have a suitable working environment for their activities and the events we run. The ideal candidate should have contract management experience which will help further develop our site in addition to any procurement activities that may be required.

Further responsibilities of the role can be found in the Job Description.

The Person

To be successful you will need facilities management expertise, a commitment to high standards of performance as well as successful track record of financial management and customer service.  As critical as the technical expertise you have will be your strong team leadership skills and ability to connect people to vision and purpose.
