Job Details

A leading NHS organisation is looking to appoint a catering services professional, responsible for the delivery of a cost effective and high-quality catering service to patients, staff and visitors. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake day-to-day responsibility, for all aspects of the catering department, enhancing the team approach and environment;
  • Daily co-operation with the Senior Chefs and kitchen staff, enhancing communication to continually enhance and maintain high standards of food and service;
  • Responsible for maximising the income and reducing the overall subsidy to the organisation, monitoring and analysing costings;
  • Have a hands-on approach to the services, contributing to the reduction in food wastage and ensure that the staffing of the department is efficient;
  • Lead on the continuing professional development and overall performance of
  • the staff in the catering department, having regular team meetings and update/feedback frequently in each department;
  • Play a major role in the continuous development of the Services as a member of the
  • Catering Estates Management Team and as a potential member of a range of the organisation’s quality/process improvement project groups;
A successful candidate will have:
  • Degree or equivalent OND, HND in Catering studies, postgraduate knowledge through training and experience to masters equivalent level; Intermediate and Final certificate in Food hygiene;
  • Extensive experience in food service as a manager in a large scale public sector production kitchen, ideally hold Catering within the NHS environment;
  • Experience in controlling an allocated budget in excess of £2m;
  • Able to develop and set standards for all levels of staff teams;
  • Knowledge of the health and safety, food safety rules and regulations COSHH and HACCP.
