Job Purpose

The Site Services Manager (Facilities Officer) is responsible for all operational management of the in-house facilities team, liaison with contractors and contracted staff on-site, day to day management of health and safety, management of part of the facilities budget, as well as ensuring best practice and best value in all areas of procurement.  To provide support and deputize for the Facilities Manager as appropriate, liaison with the science community and external stakeholders.   

Main Responsibilities /Activities

  • The Site Services Manager is responsible for all operational management of the in-house facilities team. 
  • Liaise with contractors and contracted staff on-site.
  • Deal with day to day health and safety issues.
  • Have responsibility for part of the facilities budget, as well as ensuring best practice and best value in all areas of procurement. 
  • To provide support to and deputize for the Facilities Manager as appropriate.
  • Liaise with the science community and external stakeholders.   

Essential Skills

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Degree or relevant facilities experience
  • Equivalent knowledge and skills to be able to operate monitoring systems (PPM, SLA’s, Legal Compliance and KPI’s).
  • IWFM Membership
  • IOSH H&S Qualification
  • IEMA Foundation Certification
  • NVQ in Facilities Management

Experience/Proven abilities to the position

Essential Skills

  • Understanding how to deliver facilities services within a ‘live’ environment being mindful of staff and visitor safety
  • An understanding of operational techniques in delivering soft FM services in relation to software applications
  • Budget management knowledge
  • Systems or Software Qualification or experience (Microsoft Office)
