This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our client and to lead a newly established Project Management team who are tasked with delivering a very varied and high value pipeline of projects over the coming years.

Our client is a well established public sector body in the West Midlands.

Description

The Head of Projects will be tasked with delivering a large and complex annual capital programme. This will involve managing an experienced technical team and managing these projects from conception right through to the delivery of the project.

The Head of Projects will be directly responsible for preparing project briefs and appointing the required third party contractors and consultants and ensuring that the projects are delivered both on time and within budget. The capital programme spend is very large and is made up of a multitude of projects that will run concurrently so it is essential that the Head of Projects is running a robust and comprehensive operation to ensure the successful delivery of these projects.

The role will involve the day to day management of the projects team to ensure that they are well trained and well motivated to support you achieving the department goals that have been set. There will be regular stakeholder meetings with both the Governance Board and the Transformation Board to report on the progress of the projects being delivered.

Profile

To be considered for this Head of Projects role applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a technical discipline and be a chartered member of RIBA or RICS
  • Hold a post graduate qualification in Project Management
  • Have a track record of managing the delivery of capital projects in excess of £10m
  • Demonstrate strong management skills of both an internal delivery team and third party contractors

The role is managing a newly established team and function for our client so this is a genuine opportunity to really come in and make a substantial difference to the organisation.

Job Offer

A salary of £52,000 - £60,000 is on offer as well as the associated public sector benefits. This includes a generous pension scheme, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, flexi time and time off in lieu.
