A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a Head of Business Management - Estates and Facilities, reporting to the Deputy Director of Environment.

This is a band 8c post working in the East of England on an interim basis for 6 months, inside IR35.

Responsible for leading the division’s management of the Facilities, Contracts, Security and Administration services within budgetary resources and achieving targeted cost improvements.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Leadership, support and advice to the Environment Division;
  • Develop strategies to ensure staff network with other service areas to support and encourage integrated service delivery.
  • Actively participate and advise on commercial issues and undertake customer engagement activities; Integrated into the business, the role is to optimise the accounts commercial position and ensure effective management of the contractual and commercial risks they hold;
  • Lead the team in the development of reporting tools to ensure the appropriate contract mechanisms are in place to hold suppliers to accounts for delivery of goods/services.
  • Communicate the major organisational change requiring the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills to always protect the organisation’s interests in conveying diplomacy and tact;
  • Able to make judgements based upon highly emotive and political situations and in-depth investigations will be required into precedents that will have been identified within the wider scope of the NHS, but also in line with the local constraints which exist under the organisation’s constitution;
  • Provide a clear sense of purpose and leadership by being visible and accessible to staff, patients and the public, third party suppliers and the organisation’s site users;
  • Ensuring that the multitude of existing information systems within the directorate and work reporting structures are properly maintained, audited and where necessary, updated to provide accurate and definitive information that could lead to cost savings and/or investment;
  • Ensure that new policies and procedures meet current legislation and compliment policies and other local policies within the directorate.
A successful candidate will have:
  • In-depth knowledge in several management disciplines acquired through training and experience to degree level or equivalent;
  • Evidence of acting in a similar role delivering successfully in a clinical and commercial environment within the NHS/Healthcare sector;
  • The postholder should have gone through a substantial change management including the closure of or amalgamation of a hospital or other large-scale Management of Change process;
  • Contract management expertise and have been involved in performance management both in HR and operational terms;
  • Experience of managing people and teams with evidence of ability to lead successful change.
  • Evidence of significant budget and staff management;
  • Evidence of working with people, including effective influencing, enabling others to perform and holding to account, collaborative working within and outside teams both internally and externally;
  • Pro-active, takes own initiative, willing to take ownership and accountability;
  • Excellent IT skills.
