About Us

It’s using your experience to deliver outstanding work. And it’s the pride in joining a team who will preserve the palace for future generations. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

Buckingham Palace is currently undergoing a ten-year programme of works to overhaul the building's infrastructure. This includes the replacement of essential services such as electrical cabling, plumbing and heating – some of which have not been updated since the 1950's. A dedicated Programme Management Office will oversee the delivery of this project, to ensure the building is fit for purpose for the next 50 years.

Joining an established in-house team, you’ll manage the varied logistics required to deliver this complex construction programme.

You'll coordinate and oversee the movement of contractors, materials and equipment, ensuring the Reservicing programme continues to progress efficiently.

Your main task will be to ensure reservicing work is fully integrated alongside the busy operations of a working palace.

The historical architecture, physical access and tight deadlines will all need to be considered, and every day will pose a different and often unique challenge.

You'll create both short and long term logistic strategies, consulting with a range of stakeholders and colleagues, to deliver highly detailed plans. There will also be a contract management nature to your role, and you will drive performance through our existing FM contractors.

You’ll always be looking ahead. Producing regular, real time reports, overseeing risk management, and chairing our logistics management meetings, you’ll be relied upon to identify and scope out upcoming logistical needs.

Balancing stakeholder needs with the precise schedule of works will be key. And your expert steering will help ensure the delivery of a successful programme.

About You

With experience of delivering a logistics strategy in a facilities management role or within a construction environment, you'll be looking to take on an exciting new role that will develop your career.

You may have industry recognised qualifications, but what’s most important is your ability to manage complex, multi-faceted logistics issues from security to welfare.

Your organisation skills will be absolutely vital, enabling you to effectively plan, prioritise and deliver multiple strands of works with varying timescales.

With one eye on the horizon, you’ll be adept at working at a strategic level whilst also taking ownership of the day to day tactical issues and facilities management needed in this busy programme.

You'll have worked on complex projects or programmes of works before, and particular experience working in occupied buildings within an historic environment would be a real advantage.

You'll have a good understanding of Health and Safety requirements, holding a CSCS card. A working knowledge of statutory compliance and risk management will also be important.

As a confident and diplomatic communicator, with strong customer focus, you'll be able to build strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues and contractors alike.

You’ll also have excellent written communication skills and a keen eye for detail, along with an ability to produce work and reports for a range of audiences, including board level.

Perceptive and resourceful, you'll be quick to assess issues, before reacting effectively. But above all, it’s your initiative and problem solving skills that will make you an asset to the team and ensure your success

And finally, you'll be eager to take advantage of this new role and the unique learning opportunities that it presents.
