The University of Central Lancashire is one of the world’s Best Global Universities leading the way in modern learning. Based in the heart of the North West, the University has campuses in Preston, Burnley, and West Cumbria.

The University is about to commence a new exciting phase of our ongoing Estate Strategy, and we are seeking to recruit a highly-motivated and customer-focussed Maintenance Manager (Building Services) to join our growing Estates Services & Capital Projects team based in Preston.

Initially reporting to the Assistant Director of Estates, you will be responsible for providing a professional, cost effective and compliant maintenance service for the University and will contribute to the care, quality, and upkeep of the developing University estate. Your overarching aim will be to develop and maintain a safe, welcoming, inclusive and sustainable environment for all who study, work or live in UCLan, including students, staff, visitors and partners – contributing to the attraction, recruitment and retention of students and staff.

You will have attained first degree level (or Ofqual equivalent) in construction, building services or engineering, underpinned with significant experience in a similar management role. You will also have a sound knowledge and understanding of statutory legislation relating to building services and have experience of project management.

You will be very organised and flexible in your approach to work; having the ability to work both independently and as part of the wider Estates team, and able to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet the business need.

You will be confident in interacting with a wide range of stakeholders, as you will be responsible for maintaining effective working relations with faculties, schools, and departments. You will act as the primary point of contact and technical expert in relation to the maintenance of all mechanical and electrical services at UCLan.

If you meet all the essential criteria contained within the person specification and you are interested in joining us at this exciting stage of our developmental journey, then please do apply.

For an informal discussion and further information, please contact Bill Hancox, Assistant Director of Estates – bhancox@uclan.ac.uk

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston.

Please apply online by visiting our website. If you cannot apply online, please contact Human Resources on 01772 892324 and quoting the reference number REQ005979. CVs will not be considered unless accompanied by a completed application form.

Closing date: 21 September 2021.
