Job Details
An exciting opportunity has arisen, supporting a large Healthcare organisation as an Estates - Maintenance Electrician.
This post will be working in London, initially on an interim basis for 2-3 months working on a Band 7 inside IR35 (through an umbrella solution).
The post holder will provide a first-class building maintenance service, covering project and schedule maintenance work.
Main Responsibilities:
- Work on planned preventive maintenance schedules in line with departmental goals and objectives;
- Respond to emergency maintenance and unforeseen maintenance as requested;
- Prioritise work requests and carry them out efficiently;
- Supervise external contractors as directed by the Chief Engineer;
- Carry out all work in adherence to health and safety and COSHH polices and guidelines;
- Document all work accurately;
- Support and work effectively with the team;
- Carry out basic multiskilled tasks (handyman, basic plumbing etc) with a qualified bias in electrical discipline to support running of the hospital with guidance from the team;
- Deal with enquiries/requests for maintenance advice/intervention;
- Carry out maintenance activities, creating minimal disturbance to others;
- Prioritise workload, utilising the ability to respond quickly to emergency calls;
- Act in an efficient and professional manner when dealing with patients, visitors, and staff, and show tact and sensitivity if working in patients’ rooms;
- Maintain a high standard of service, always adhering to safe practice;
- Take responsibility for own work, in accordance with trades professional codes of practice;
- Maintain equipment and report any faults;
- Keep up to date with current legislation and practice within the profession;
- Continuously maintain accurate records;
- Demonstrate flexibility to respond to the needs of the hospital and to engineers where required.
- Training in relevant discipline such as City & Guilds electrical / NVQ level 2 or 3;
- Experience working within the NHS/ a healthcare setting;
- Knowledge of NHS policies and procedures;
- Proven knowledge of Health and Safety, COSHH, and Lifting and Handling;
- The ability to work on own initiative and take decisions when working alone.
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communications skills;
- Accuracy and attention to detail;
- The ability to recognise and prevent risk to self and others;
- Evidence of updating professional skills and knowledge.
