Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen, supporting a large Healthcare organisation as an Estates - Maintenance Electrician.

This post will be working in London, initially on an interim basis for 2-3 months working on a Band 7 inside IR35 (through an umbrella solution).

The post holder will provide a first-class building maintenance service, covering project and schedule maintenance work.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Work on planned preventive maintenance schedules in line with departmental goals and objectives;
  • Respond to emergency maintenance and unforeseen maintenance as requested;
  • Prioritise work requests and carry them out efficiently;
  • Supervise external contractors as directed by the Chief Engineer;
  • Carry out all work in adherence to health and safety and COSHH polices and guidelines;
  • Document all work accurately;
  • Support and work effectively with the team;
  • Carry out basic multiskilled tasks (handyman, basic plumbing etc) with a qualified bias in electrical discipline to support running of the hospital with guidance from the team;
  • Deal with enquiries/requests for maintenance advice/intervention;
  • Carry out maintenance activities, creating minimal disturbance to others;
  • Prioritise workload, utilising the ability to respond quickly to emergency calls;
  • Act in an efficient and professional manner when dealing with patients, visitors, and staff, and show tact and sensitivity if working in patients’ rooms;
  • Maintain a high standard of service, always adhering to safe practice;
  • Take responsibility for own work, in accordance with trades professional codes of practice;
  • Maintain equipment and report any faults;
  • Keep up to date with current legislation and practice within the profession;
  • Continuously maintain accurate records;
  • Demonstrate flexibility to respond to the needs of the hospital and to engineers where required.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Training in relevant discipline such as City & Guilds electrical / NVQ level 2 or 3;
  • Experience working within the NHS/ a healthcare setting;
  • Knowledge of NHS policies and procedures;
  • Proven knowledge of Health and Safety, COSHH, and Lifting and Handling;
  • The ability to work on own initiative and take decisions when working alone.
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communications skills;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • The ability to recognise and prevent risk to self and others;
  • Evidence of updating professional skills and knowledge.
