Job Details

Job Purpose:
 
As a member of the Forecasting and Capacity Team you are expected to be accountable for accurately planning resources within budget to effectively meet demand in accordance with targets and KPIs of the Trust meeting the challenges of delivering Pandemic & Health Emergency Response Services (PHERS) and enable the Service to respond rapidly and effectively to changes in patient care, demands, working practices and other internal and external factors.
 
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the operational strategy by scheduling capacity to meet demand, resulting in improved quality of patient care and outcomes;
  • Manage the scheduling function for the PHERS directorate, its staff and budget, ensuring compliance with Trust procedures, policies and protocols;
  • Deliver the roster schedule for operational delivery, with a performance focus, regularly reviewing, refining and monitoring to ensure it is as fully staffed as possible in accordance with Trust policies and protocols, minimising abstractions and maximizing relief; working with colleagues in other departments to achieve this;
  • Liaise with functional heads and their teams to manage all issues relating to payroll in regard to timesheets, including sickness, leave, overtime and other abstractions;
  • Contribute to and propose changes to forecasting and capacity policies that may  have an impact throughout the PHERS directorate and may impact on internal and  external stakeholders;
  • Collaborate with functional heads and their teams to ensure staffing establishment is maintained in the most cost effective manner taking into account skills mix and operational requirements;
  • Liaise with each service to ensure all staff are rostered to attend courses relevant to their professional qualification, planning these courses to minimise disruption and maintain quality of patient care and outcomes;
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to identify and plan for fluctuations in demand for resources, developing strategies in relation to risks and issues. Work with all stakeholders to ensure relief and bank staff and overtime are allocated as efficiently and effectively as possible to maintain operational cover within budget constraints;
  • Ensure managers and staff are aware of any operational cover issues;
  • Support the operational managers in the day-to-day shift management.
