An opportunity to join the City of London Corporation at a crucial and exciting time in its evolution of FM services

The City of London Corporation has existed for over 800 years and is steeped in history. It is the place of opportunity, diversity, social impact and commercial influence. Our work touches lives, not just in the Square Mile or even Greater London, but across the UK and beyond. The work we do is a catalyst for economic and social progress and you could play an important part.

Reporting to the Operations Group Director, as Head of Facilities Management you’ll be responsible for the delivery and performance of all hard and soft FM services to our large Investment and Corporate property portfolios. The role oversees a large team that includes facilities managers, contract performance management, a CAFM service desk and an outsourced FM provision. You will champion high performance, efficiency and effective delivery fit for a City with global impact.

The broad remit includes building repair and maintenance, cleaning, pest control, porterage and several other FM related services. The 2 large, diverse and exciting property portfolios include various types and class of property from new to old and ancient to listed status. It includes commercial property located in the square mile and the west end and Corporate buildings such as Mansion House; Tower Bridge; Markets; Police; Court buildings; Guildhall Complex; Barbican; buildings located on Hampstead Heath, Epping Forest, various open spaces; and 4 independent Schools to give some examples.

You will collaborate with key stakeholders from across the organisation, cross functional teams, elected politicians, Corporate and Investment asset managers and client departments. You therefore will have demonstrable experience of operating at those levels in complex and demanding environments.

In addition, the role is leading the development of the next generation FM provision that is an integrated model. So perhaps you have experience in delivering integrated FM across di-verse property portfolios.

Together with a degree and a professional qualification such as RICS or IWFM, you’ll bring to the role demonstrable experience of managing annual budgets more than £20m. You will have experience in the design, implementation, contract management and financial control of service delivery and maintenance projects. You’ll certainly demonstrate detailed practical knowledge of health and safety risks along with a thorough understanding of building compliance requirements.

You will have gained your facilities management track record in large complex organisations with a diverse portfolio, which has given you experience in managing people and centralised services.  Your skills span the review and control of support services, management of contracted services, report writing, public speaking and presenting to senior stakeholders and change management. Crucially, you’re fully conversant with intelligent technology including building management systems and a CAFM system.

In return, you can look forward to a competitive salary, excellent benefits that include a local government pension scheme and a wide range of development opportunities in one of the most diverse and challenging of organisations.

The closing date is 12 noon on 12 January 2022.

Interviews will be in week commencing 17 January 2022
