The Department of Estates is looking for a Facilities Manager to work within the Facilities Team at the University of Hertfordshire. The role is a campus-based role supporting the Head of Facilities Management in the Facilities Management of a large estate.

The Facilities Team is responsible for Soft Services functions such as cleaning, grounds, signage, waste, events, and facilities standards.

Main duties and responsibilities

You will be the lead on ensuring the campus delivers an excellent first impression and a high standard of service excellence. You will also be expected to develop and implement a range of auditing schedules including first impressions, in-house partners and partners supplies as required and support with a range of facilities projects and audits across the site.

The role will also require you to support with Health and Safety and Facilities of internal and external spaces and provide detailed and accurate reports and provide recommendations where required.

You must also ensure that Health and Safety processes are followed at all times (including Permit to Work and CDM), and have the ability to review and amend risk assessments in line with the latest government guidance

Skill and experience required

You will be expected to have substantial proven experience in a Facilities Management environment and proven experience in both motivating and supervising others and contract management. You will be capable of accurate online record keeping and report preparation. This role will require you to have the ability to plan a detailed project while delivering excellent customer service and managing expectations and produce consistently good customer service under pressure.

You will have the ability to organise workload effectively, prioritising tasks appropriately with minimal supervision and have knowledge of budgetary control. You must be able to work in a team, providing cover and support for colleagues, and communicate well with colleagues. You will also be required to have access to transportation in order to be able to travel at short notice to other sites when required

Qualifications required

You must hold a minimum of an undergraduate degree, or equivalent qualification, or proven experience. You must also have IOSH Managing Safety.
