A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint an experienced NHS Facilities Manager, you will need to have worked at Band 8c/d level recently to be considered for this appointment. 

The Trust is looking to appoint a Facilities Operational Manager for a period of 18 months to 24 months, whilst the Head of Facilities undertakes a specific large scale and complex procurement exercise. The Trust is seeking a knowledgeable and suitably experienced and qualified candidate.

Main Responsibilities:
  • The role will report to the Head of Facilities, providing assurance on service improvement, compliance, business continuity, mandatory and statutory conformity. The role will deputise for the Head of Facilities on relevant professional matters as they relate to the scope of services, as required.
  • Responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of all site-based Facilities Services within the Trust. These will include, but are not limited to, Healthcare Cleaning, Patient and Retail Catering, Portering, Post, Laundry and Linen, Waste Management, Non-Emergency Patient Transport, Transport and Accommodation.
  • Managing budgets for these services to achieve service delivery and financial objectives, relevant performance targets and compiling business cases to support longer term strategic service developments. The post holder will work with the Divisional Finance Management Team to establish robust systems are in place to ensure budgets are managed within available resources and that in terms of quality the Trust receives auditable “value for money” services.
  • The post holder will liaise closely with counterparts on all Trust sites to ensure the same high quality of services are delivered consistently across the Trust, meeting the corporate requirements and those for specific Divisions.
  • To be the lead contact and day to day escalation point for all Facilities site based services, liaising daily with Service Providers, Divisional Management and their teams, Infection Prevention and Control, Estates and Dietetics to identify and co-ordinate rectification of operational issues.
  • Initiate and lead specific research and projects as required or identified by the Head of Facilities.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Extensive experience in the management of NHS Facilities at senior level, including the management of staffing and services. The client will also consider a candidate who has worked for a TFM organisation that contract services to the NHS.
  • Must hold relevant qualifications/education/courses for a professional at this level within the public sector.
