Job Purpose:

Business Intelligence Manager needed to enable all organisational effectiveness and help drive digital strategy. The post forms part of the Information & Digital Delivery team, where the prime function is to achieve its digital ambitions by improving the experience for our people, patients and services through organisational efficiencies.

The post holder will lead the Business Intelligence function and work to deliver an effective data analysis service to support transformation project delivery and liaising closely with Operational and Performance colleagues.

The role with requires a strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skill set, which can communicate often complex and sensitive performance issues to a wide range of audiences including senior management. A key area is the ability to draw conclusions from analysis undertaken and guide people to make sound decisions based on the results.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain the development of the performance management & internal information systems. This will include ensuring the technical infrastructure is robust enough to deliver required outputs, training users and promoting the use and value of the system to all staff;
  • Lead a small team of BI developers;
  • Lead the development of new analytical reports, performance indicators and the esolution of data quality/interpretation issues which will drive improvement in performance within clinical divisions and corporate departments;
  • For all relevant performance metrics and statutory returns: review, document processing and liaise with operational leaders to provide quality assurance that they are produced and published in line with national guidance and requirements;
  • Lead the workforce planning function to ensure all decisions are justified using the information repositories available;
  • Manage the day to day running of data repositories and their feeds into visualisation tools;
  • Support design, development and maintenance of performance information systems using the most effective combinations of data sets, business intelligence tools, analytical techniques and querying methods. This will require advanced problem solving skills, the ability to evaluate different options and make decisions on what will yield best results in terms of outputs, usability and presentation;
  • Work with the digital team and support their agenda ensuring business as usual is maintained but future proofing any development work so that it is aligned to the clinical system changes / updates.

Experience:

  • Comprehensive understanding of NHS Data dictionary and core reporting framework;
  • Understanding of BI visualisation tools Power BI & Tableau;
  • Commitment to self-development with ability to demonstrate in depth knowledge of key policies and themes in the healthcare provision in the UK;
  • Experience of maximising efficiencies within a multi-site contact centre with strong understanding of KPI’s and SLA’s;
  • Patient activity management metrics and how to use them to enhance performance;
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills at a senior level.
