The University of Brighton has been part of the city of Brighton & Hove since 1859, starting as a school of art in the kitchens of the Royal Pavilion and growing to become the diverse and inclusive institution it is today. The role:

Coming in to this exciting role as the Head of Security,  you will have the opportunity to shape the security offering across this wonderful university and spectacular campus. Focusing on 3 key objectives: Strategy, People, and Operations, the Head of Security is responsible for establishing a safe, secure, and professional environment for staff, students, and visitors. You will have the chance to design, implement, deliver, and lead the security strategy for the whole university; build, develop and drive a high performing team; and create strong relationships with both university stakeholders and trusted external partners. Thereby creating a collaborative culture that promotes a collective approach and operational excellence.

About you:

You will come from a high-performing security operations background, experienced in working in high-footfall, multi-site, and demanding environments. Experience of working within the education sector is not essential for this role, but an understanding of the industry is highly desirable. You will be able to demonstrate your experience of creating and implementing objectives around security strategy, people management, and operational delivery. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You will be able to build relationships quickly, develop teams, influence, and drive performance, all whilst operating with high levels of personal and professional credibility.
