Role Summary:

As part of the European Workplace Service (WPS) team, the Project Manager will support a variety of WPS building services and building fabric projects in line with the WPS Capex Program and functional Goals & Priorities. There will be a required focus on developing and delivering projects that are environmentally friendly, sustainable and energy efficient.

The Project Manager will develop and implement innovative and cohesive solutions to effectively deliver both direct and indirect projects on time and on budget. The Project Manager will be the functional lead in the preparation of various forms of contracts and will work closely with internal procurement and legal teams. Managing all associated health & safety requirements alongside the TJX global risk functions.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain successful partnerships with the WPS team, WPS stakeholders and key service partners.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with the GBS WPS teams to ensure non duplication of projects and to drive global engagement on key initiatives.
  • Leads project activities and reports project status to ensure that assigned projects are completed on time, within approved budget, and provides desired business value
  • Assigns priorities for and coordinates the activities of project resources, including the relevant third-party teams as needed.
  • Supervises multiple, concurrent tasks and properly assesses priorities of assigned activities.
  • Responsible for timely and effective project communications including stakeholder and sponsor interactions, meeting management, and reporting.
  • Responsible for the project plan, work breakdown structure, and identified critical path.
  • Accountable for project financials, including baselines, forecasting, reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Completes a Post Implementation Review, Lessons Learned and feeds back for process improvement.
  • Creates strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.
  • Plans and schedules project deliverables, goals, and milestones.
  • Identifies and solves project issues.
  • Support SME’s as required in continuous improvement and project management
  • Agree project objectives, scope, deliverables, timescales and budgets and secure sign off from Sponsors and Stakeholders.
  • Manage changes in project scope or requirements, negotiating as necessary with Sponsors and Stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans using appropriate tools. Identify and manage project dependencies and the critical path.
  • Ensure that all projects are progressing and delivering agreed results to the agreed time, quality and budget requirements.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, with varying scale and delivery timelines.
  • Manage third-party and supplier relationships.

Project

Health and Safety

  • Overall project responsibility for H&S compliance
  • Management and planning of site audits for contractual Compliance to agreed standards
  • Work with relevant internal Risk functions for all associated H&S requirements within your areas of responsibility
  • Liaise closely with TJX business insurers for required impairment notices etc.

Contractor Safety Management

  • Maintain the safety management system for contractors, including induction processes, permits to work, CDM Site Safety Plans etc.
  • Ensure that reviews of all third-party Safe Systems of Work are undertaken
  • Ensure all contractors have the appropriate accreditations and insurances
  • Assist with the Quality Management process for appointing and managing suppliers and contractors

 

 

Skills/Experience/Training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels and with the ability to simplify complex topics for broad audiences.
  • Experience in managing complex projects with a qualification in project management is highly desirable.
  • Experience with PC based project management tools including MS Project, MS Word, and MS Excel
  • Experience creating and managing detailed project financial data and performing the analysis necessary.
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize and to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong process and analytical skills tied with sharp decision-making abilities.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on listening to the customer.
  • Complete integrity and reliability to manage and perform sensitive and confidential work
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work across the organisation at all levels using influencing
  • Fluent in English, another European language would be considered an advantage.

With working knowledge of:

  • Facilities Management and Technical Building Services best practice
  • Contractor and Contract management skills
  • BCP and Emergency Planning

Qualifications and Industry Memberships:

Desirable but not essential

  • Project management (Prince2, PMP) or equivalent qualification
  • IOSH Managing Safely/NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Industry Membership such as the (IWFM) Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (preferable) or (RICS) Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors

  • UK/EU travel – Possible global travel (occasional)
  • O/night stays
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development
  • Flexible approach to working and the ability to work outside of normal working hours, for example Emergency Planning/Operations
  • From time to time to attend public or other external industry meetings/conferences
