About the role:

  • We are looking to recruit a planning manager to join our Development Team to assist in the securing of new development opportunities in conjunction with Land Managers. As well as the submission and management of the company’s planning applications, to enable the company to grow to our target of delivering 500 new homes per year within our operating areas which cover Avon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire.

Person Specification / About you:

  • Excellent negotiating skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn with the ability to absorb information rapidly
  • Able to work under pressure to tight and changing deadlines.
  • A self-starter capable of creating and maintaining momentum in projects.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Willing to be flexible in respect to day-to-day duties and hours worked.
  • Ability and willingness to travel on a regular basis.
  • An understanding of the legal process for option agreements, promotion agreements, joint ventures and freehold purchases would be preferable although training will also be given.

Experience, Qualifications and Skills Experience:

  • Graduate level – Planner (ideally having achieved or working towards RTPI membership) or Chartered Surveyor
  • Previous experience with a local authority, house builder or private consultancy would be ideal
  • Experience in planning policy/development management
  • Excellent communication, project management, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Possession of a driving license and, ideally, good knowledge of the local area
  • Ability to work on your own initiative, self-manage and prioritise your own workload
