About the role

As part of the Estates, Projects and Masterplanning department, the role assists the Technical Services and Compliance Manager in ensuring the NHM estate operates a safe, efficient and fully compliant working environment by ensuring building services undergo Statutory inspections and are fully compliant with relevant legislation, Health and Safety law and insurance inspections.

The role contributes to the auditing of Hard Services FM contract provision and subcontracted services, assisting with weekly and monthly meetings and producing monthly reports on performance, progress and recommended improvements. This will include auditing of contracted PPM and reactive works against KPIs and SLAs, monitoring quality, service and organisation. You will act as liaison between FM partners and NHM stakeholders across NHM Science, Engagement and Corporate Services groups to understand and improve services corelation with business and welfare requirements.

The role provides guidance for projects and contracted works across the Estates, Projects and Masterplanning department, acting as intelligent client for capital and infrastructure projects in relation to high voltage, electrical, BMS, HVAC and access infrastructure. You will contribute to project briefs and specifications to align outcomes with existing mechanical and electrical plant, compliance and efficiency strategy, and extract O&M recommendations for appropriate inheritance by the business-as-usual FM operation.

The role works with the FM service providers and NHM Health and Safety unit to prioritise and manage compliance risks, particularly any issues highlighted by internal or external (BSI) audits contributing to retention of the Museums ISO accreditation in Health and Safety or Environmental Management. 

About you

You will have a NC/HND in building services or mechanical/electrical engineering/HVAC or equivalent such as City and Guilds heating and ventilation, electrical or gas installation and an IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent Health and Safety qualification.

You will have experience of working in a similar role in a multi-disciplinary environment, ideally within a large public sector institution preferably within grade 1 or grade 2 listed building.

You will have knowledge of relevant statutory UK/EU legislation, policies and procedures applicable to facilities management and building services, with relevant experience of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 and L8 Water regulations.

You will have proven experience and knowledge of planned preventative maintenance, repair and planned replacement of HV, M&E, HVAC, Asbestos removal and Management, water and fire safety systems and have proven experience and knowledge of Health and Safety law and statutory compliance obligations for all FM Technical hard services.

You will be able to demonstrate experience in project management and the Delivery of M&E and services projects, and have project team experience.
