Finegreen are supporting a large NHS organisation in the appointment of an interim Director level professional for their Estates and Facilities Directorate.

The post is based in the South West of England for an initial period of 6 months, the role is a VSM level appointment and so the day rate is flexible dependant on experience.

Accountable for the delivery of Trust wide Estates and Facilities operations, also the continued development of related strategies. This will include the implementation of the 5 year plan for the Division in line with Trust and National guidelines related.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Lead the modernisation programme within Estates and Facilities to create a future proofed function;
  • Set improvement standards, drive consistency and build financial and commercial management capability within estates and facilities services.;
  • Proactively working with stakeholders to innovate and expand or rationalise estates and facilities services, planning and evaluating new business options, identifying potential new funding streams and income generation to support achievement of the Trust’s strategic objectives;
  • Ensure that services are aligned to the clinical needs of the Trust and that improvements are co-produced with staff and service users;
  • Lead the delivery of efficiency improvements through the Estates and Facilities Improvement Programme, encouraging and supporting Divisional Leadership Teams and their staff to identify and improvement opportunities for service transformation;
  • Ensure that the Estates and Facilities Services are regularly reviewed and compared with services both internally and externally to the Trust using appropriate benchmarking and best practice information such as Model Hospital and use this information to identify and implement efficiencies and service improvements;
  • Responsible for the continued implementation of the Trust’s Capital Programme to time, cost and quality, applying extensive experience of formal project management and capital procurement techniques and ensuring high professional standards of project management and contract administration;
  • Lead on the development and management of an Estates Strategy and Development Control Plan that is aligned to the Trusts overall strategy, commercial aspirations and clinical strategies;
  • Develop effective and mature external working relationships with service providers, statutory bodies and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Reporting to the Chief Executive, provide progress on the delivery of the Estates and Facilities strategy, strategic projects and key risk outcomes in order to provide assurance and alignment of objectives.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Masters qualification in either Facilities Management or Engineering or Building discipline, or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through practice;
  • Full membership of one of the Professional organisations listed; British Institute of Facilities Management, Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estates Management, Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chartered Institute of Building Services, Chartered Institute of Building or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors;
  • Extensive knowledge of Estates, Facilities and Procurement services at Director / Divisional Director level, including, provision of Hard FM, Soft FM and Capital Projects;
