Facilities Manager (Moorgate)
c. £40,000 per annum

The University of Law (ULaw) is one of the world's largest law schools. With an impressive history dating back to 1876, we employ over 900 staff and have over 14,000 students studying on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, along with an alumni network in excess of 100,000. We were the first-ever independent institution to be granted degree awarding powers and in 2012 we gained university title. With a rich heritage and a reputation for innovation and contemporary teaching practices, we continuously focus on developing the best legal and business minds. In 2016, we opened our leading Business School, further enhancing our reputation as a full service legal, business and educational training specialist, operating from campuses throughout the UK, Berlin and Hong Kong and an Online campus.

What really sets us apart from other universities is the guiding principle that future lawyers and business leaders should learn in a realistic, professional and contemporary context, with plenty of practical interactive engagement. That's why we keep our contact hours high and our teaching groups small.
Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a team of facilities staff.
  • Managing all mechanical and electrical services, plant and associated installations to ensure compliance with current legislation, ensuring all statutory testing, inspection and record-keeping is maintained up to date.
  • Supervising physical plant operations including utilities, energy management and safety and security systems.
  • Ensuring that a compliant, safe, healthy and comfortable environment is provided for staff and students.
  • Scheduling and supervising maintenance and repair activities, including reactive maintenance and contracted services.
  • Manage all cleaning and security provision, through regular checks and audits, ensuring consistently high standards.
  • Providing all facilities services and support to agreed SLAs and KPIs.

Holding a qualification in facilities management, engineering, building trades or a related field will be an advantage. Experience of working within a facilities management environment is essential, liaising across all levels of the business to provide a high standard of customer care. You will have experience of managing PPMs and contractors and of maintaining accurate statutory compliance.

You will be working in very busy environments with multiple stakeholders, so we are looking for people with excellent communication and organisational skills, with a strong working knowledge & experience of health and safety regulations and a good understanding of soft and hard FM services. Previous experience in working in a high education sector will be beneficial but not essential.

The role requires being available for emergency callouts on weekends and evenings as well as ability to work occasionally out-of-hours if required.

We offer an excellent range of competitive benefits including a generous annual leave allowance, private medical scheme, contributory pension scheme, life assurance, training and qualifications, and travel loans.

The Management Recruitment Group (MRG) has been exclusively retained for this campaign. All direct and third-party applications will be forwarded to MRG.

Closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 30th October 2022.

Some posts within the University are subject to a DBS check - you will be notified of this during the application process.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) individuals are currently under-represented within the University – which does not reflect our diverse student body - we would particularly welcome applications from BAME candidates. All appointments will be made on merit.
