My client is a leading Student accommodation developer with a significant national portfolio.

As a result of continued growth and development they require a Head of Refurbishment to enable the continued rapid growth and expansion of the business.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a high performing project team in a fast paced organisation.

Role,

The Head of Refurbishment is responsible for the leadership of the Refurbishment Team delivering capital project initiatives for a across our portfolio of PBSA assets, in accordance with the five year plan.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead the continuous review in terms of quality of output and relevance of Capital Projects processes, business improvements and support the Commercial, Development and Project Management Teams in the implementation. Interact with regional team coordinators to ensure the deployment of sufficient internal and external resource for the successful delivery of projects Provide leadership, motivate and mentor the team Manage and monitor the team’s projects in terms of meeting key milestones and gateway sign offs. Monitor development and delivery of refurbishments & remodeling including ensuring the business case and investment appraisals criteria are clearly established and met. Assist the Commercial Director in the management and monitoring of project cash flows, scrutiny of tender returns and contractual and framework matters. Assist and the Portfolio team in obtaining relevant approvals for proposed capital projects. Establish risk criteria and continue to monitor through risk registers. Responsibility for the development, coordination and execution of refurbishment projects; Procuring and managing consultants and design teams in developing refurbishment projects. Manage and coordinate the design team throughout the project life cycle including the consents process, Building Regs. and contractor procurement stages. Ensure compliance with all internal requirements, statutory, quality and health and safety standards including leading the Planning consent process.

 About you

Experience in leading and managing a project team on varied and multiple projects across a wide geographical basis. Experience of applying and developing project management tools throughout the project life cycle. Ability to deal confidently with and support Directors and senior managers. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal with change and cope with the rigors of a fast-paced refurbishment programme. Proficient in the performance management of supply chain Experience and confidence with Main Contractors during the delivery phase, monitoring progress, quality and safety aspects of the Contract and dealing robustly with any deviations. Ability to utilize project management tools; Microsoft project or similar, develop risk schedules and competent in the use of MS products. Financially savvy with commercial knowledge of residential developments; able to carry out value engineering and interrogate cost plans.

To succeed in this challenging role, you will possess a relevant property qualification and have experience of managing a significant varied workload.  Knowledge of Residential, Student or Hotels would be advantageous.
