Founded over 30 years ago, Sir Cameron Mackintosh’s Delfont Mackintosh Theatres Ltd owns and operates eight of the most prestigious theatres in London’s West End: the Gielgud, Noël Coward, Novello, Sondheim, Prince Edward, Prince of Wales, Victoria Palace and Wyndham’s.

An experienced candidate is sought to join our team, and take on the role of Deputy Maintenance Supervisor. The position will be a hands on maintenance role, which will incorporate deputising for the Maintenance Supervisor in their absence, and completing supervisory and compliance tasks as delegated by the Maintenance Supervisor, and Facilities Manager.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, they will be responsible for supporting the Property department in the delivery of first class maintenance and engineering services for our theatres, ensuring planned maintenance and reactive response meets the agreed service level.

Main Duties

  • Assist the maintenance Supervisor in the running of the maintenance team where necessary and complete supervisory and compliance tasks in their absence, or when requested to by management.
  • Maintain the public space and rear of house areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including carpentry, plumbing, tiling and basic building fabric repairs to ensure an attractive and well-maintained facility.
  • Ensure CAFM requests for works are effectively completed and all emergency repairs are undertaken effectively and in a timely manner. Utilise Help Desk and PPM systems to monitor tasks and ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Ensure suitable control of stock of all materials and equipment required to undertake maintenance.
  • Ensure that suitable and sufficient engineering resources are available to undertake the required reactive repairs at all times.
  • Ensure that comprehensive engineering records are kept (electronically or otherwise) and that work undertaken is properly documented.
  • Ensure that all Method Statements and Risk Assessments are adhered to for all tasks carried out to ensure safe working practices.
  • Develop a good working relationship with building management and properties team.
  • Ensure the provision of a safe & healthy working environment, and ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures, as well as site policies, procedures and working arrangements, as required.
  • Ensure that professional technical skills are maintained through a commitment to personal development.
  • Ensure effective communication with building management and properties team whether verbally or written.
  • Ensure compliance with and record keeping as required by DMT’s Health and Safety policy.
  • Ensure ACOP L8 compliance and check and carry out required maintenance to water system, including temperature logging of water system, record keeping, maintenance to taps, shower heads and other works as required by ACOP L8.
  • Ensure safe systems of work in conjunction with a permit to work scheme.
  • Ensure emergencies, breakdowns & unforeseen works requests are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Organise and if necessary assist in reactive repairs to the site’s fabric systems, including but not limited to fabric, plumbing, mechanical or electrical services as required.
  • Respond to reactive and PPM tasks on site ensuring optimum levels of service delivery are being achieved.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to ensure all operational services are available to support building at all times.
  • Control & record all site services isolations according to the site procedures.
  • Attend and/or lead regular briefing meetings to discuss works and team operational duties.
  • Carry out regular checks to all site tools, personal uniform and PPE.
  • Maintain any documents and records required to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Comply with all DMT policies and represent the company with diplomacy, discretion, and courtesy, at all times, safeguarding all confidential information.
  • Maintain an awareness of DMT as part of the Cameron Mackintosh Ltd group of companies and undertake any other reasonable duties as required.

Person Specification

Essential

  1. Proactive and flexible attitude to duties and work undertaken – demonstrates a ‘can do’ attitude whilst under pressure and takes ownership of projects.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge and experience of building fabric repair techniques and methods.
  3. Experienced and able to tackle all areas of building maintenance and with a proven track record of undertaking reactive and planned preventative maintenance.
  4. Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel or equivalent.
  5. Sound understanding and experience of meeting Health and Safety obligations with regard to maintenance activities.
  6. A team player, able to work with building services team and buildings staff of all levels.


Desirable

  1. Qualification in a building fabric discipline.
  2. L8 experience and training.
  3. Formal training or qualification in mechanical and electrical services maintenance.
  4. Training and qualifications relating to the 18th Edition electrical regulations.
  5. Formal Health and Safety training and/or qualifications e.g. IOSH, COSSH, NEBOSH, Risk assessments and method statements.
