The Reform Club has a unique opportunity for a Building Engineer to join our team of circa 90 staff on a permanent, full time basis.

The Reform Club’s large, Grade 1 listed building on Pall Mall serves as luxury home from home for the Members of the Club, as it has done since its construction in 1841. The building and its superb interiors are internationally renowned, and the Members of the Club have come to expect certain standards to be maintained. It is the responsibility of the Buildings Department to ensure that all aspects of building and services maintenance are dealt with correctly, timely, and sympathetically.

The Role

As one of the Duty Buildings Engineers, you are an all-rounder within the Buildings/ Engineering department, sorting out everything from a broken tap or malfunctioning lights, to fixing items in the kitchen; routine repairs in the bedrooms, and regular Legionella testing and other Health and Safety tasks. The role will include both Planned Preventative Maintenance work and reactive Maintenance jobs.

You will be a multi-skilled, hands-on, motivated, and hard-working technical worker looking to develop. You will also be adaptable, flexible, and able to work both independently and with the team on shifts set between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday to Friday (the Club is currently closed at weekends).

The Buildings Engineer role comes with:

Requirements for the role:

The following skills, qualifications, and experience are required to fulfill the role:

  • At least 2 years’ demonstrable experience working in maintenance in a similar environment
  • Experience in a maintenance role in a 4-5 star hotel
  • Experience working in a listed/ heritage building environment is desirable
  • Qualified in General Buildings Trade, or equivalent experience
  • Water Systems Management/ Legionella qualifications or experience thereof
  • Electrical and/ or electromechanical qualifications are desirable
  • NVQ in Engineering/ building maintenance or similar is desirable
