Job Details

Finegreen are supporting an NHS organisation to appoint a Health and Safety Advisor (Part time).

The post will be based in the South West, for 22.5 hours a week, on an interim period of 3 months, with a competitive rate.

The post holder will be required to provide advice and guidance to managers in order that appropriate immediate actions are taken following an incident, accident or claim to ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Ensure that relevant health and safety and security policies and processes are in place to keep any visitors to site are kept safe as far as possible;
  • As Health and Safety Lead, support and contribute to the development of the organisation’s Risk Register on all H&S non-clinical risks, ensuring best practice at all times in the management of adverse events and the implementation of action plans, supporting staff and managers in developing health & safety management systems;
  • Liaise with Education Department in determining the training needs analysis identifying the health & safety training needs of the organisation, both mandatory and statutory, formulating a training plan to deliver necessary, appropriate and timely training;
  • Investigate, in conjunction with the relevant authorities, any allegations of theft of patient or personal or organisation property;
  • Act as the responsible person Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR) reporting to the Health and Safety Executive within the appropriate timescales;
  • Identifying and reporting incidents that meet the RIDDOR criteria, when validating incidents on the Datix Incident Reporting System;
  • Provide advice, consultation and support to managers and staff as part of the overall approach to risk identification and reduction in numbers, probability and impact of health & safety incidents;
  • Maintain and prepare Induction training for new starters to the organisation, to provide them with an overview of how the Risk Management department operates and their role within it.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Hold a relevant technical qualification (NEBOSH diploma preferred).Hold certificate minimum;
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Law and application;
  • Evidence of continued professional development;
  • Understanding of the public sector;
  • Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to senior stakeholders and a broad range of stakeholders as required.
