We are supporting an NHS organisation in the North East to appoint a new Capital Projects Officer/Manager.

The post will be for 3 months initially, with a potential to go permanent, the client is interested in professionals who have worked in Healthcare, Local Authority and Educational settings.

The post holder will liaise with external consultants, managers and design & technical consultants appointed by the organisation, various estate professional staff both internal and outsourced.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Deputies for the senior project manager as required;
  • Help support the implementation strategic and operational Estates objectives within the overall business philosophy of the organisations;
  • Support the Directorate in ensuring that the highest standards of corporate governance and personal behaviour are maintained in the organisations;
  • Contribute to the successful team working of the capital estate and facilities directorate team;
  • Take accountability for and contribute to the development and furtherance of the governance and risk management, equality and diversity and Health and safety strategies as appropriate;
  • Provide professional advice to the Capital program Manager in respect of all Project related issues and provide assurance that all relevant statutory strategy and mandatory NHS requirements are met;
  • Support and deliver capital projects from feasibility through to timely completion and within budget working alongside project teams and construction partners;
  • Ensure all projects are fully compliant and certified prior to handing over completed schemes for clinical use;
  • Support the delivery of the estate capital programme in accordance with time, quality and financial constraints;
  • Undertaking feasibility studies including options and budget costs for capital schemes;
  • Assisting in the preparation of business cases.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Project Management experience in NHS or similar;
  • Experience and knowledge of NHS design principles, and associated HBN’s and HTM’s, relevant codes of practice, British Standards and Building Regulations.
