About the role

The Fabric Supervisor will support the Estates Operations team and Senior Surveyor in capturing, recording and applying site knowledge on all aspects of the Museum’s building fabric, floor loadings and structural information. You will advise on all projects and works with regards to asbestos, fabric queries, structural/physical security, and locks.

You will be responsible for the management and auditing of related areas of Hard and Soft services FM contracts service delivery and reactive/chargeable/quotable works, ensuring a safe, well maintained, and compliant estate, ensuring the building fabric, from roofs to drains, is well maintained, weather-ready and watertight.

You will ensure quality, high standards and value for money through regular audits of reactive and planned contractor works and producing a monthly fabric update, advising progress on issues and making recommendations on fabric improvements always making sure sustainability, carbon impact and carbon reduction are central to decisions and ensuring contractors provide the relevant information.

The role will also support the Technical Compliance Manager in all aspects of Estates project delivery and wider NHM Capital projects, and the Soft Services Operations Manager in all areas relating to grounds, cleaning, logistics and pest management and prevention.

The role will be primarily based at the South Kensington site, however there will be an expectation that the post holder will attend the Natural History Museum at Tring at least once a fortnight.  

About you

You will ideally have a surveying qualification and asbestos qualification and training, e.g., P405. You will have H&S qualifications (IOSH or NEBOSH) and ACoP L8 Legionella awareness training, and bring experience of listed buildings and planning , as well as a knowledge and experience of the locks industry and security practice.

You will have considerable experience of managing the performance of construction contractors, checking risk assessments and method statements and monitoring performance on site and you will be able to deliver quality and demonstrate value for money.
