The University of Sheffield is a world-renowned institution with a reputation for academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and a vibrant student community. We continue to be recognised for our outstanding teaching and research and are a World Top 100 University (QS World University Rankings 2023). We are home to 30,000 of the brightest students and over 8,000 staff from more than 140 countries around the world.

As one of the leading HE institutions in the UK and a member of the Russell Group of universities, we pride ourselves on providing our students with the very best learning environment, including world-class facilities and state-of-the-art buildings. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director, Campus Services (Facilities Management) to join our team.

Reporting to the Director of Estates and Facilities Management (EFM), the Assistant Director (Campus Services) is a key leadership role within the EFM Executive Team. Working collaboratively with departmental colleagues in the development and implementation of EFMs strategic vision, and with academic and other Professional Services leaders, you will be responsible for the strategic development and service integration of soft FM services, the leadership of Campus Services, and the provision of University-wide operational support services, ensuring consistent standards are achieved and all services are delivered by appropriately trained and qualified EFM staff. You will have responsibility for a team of 450 colleagues, managing campus-wide soft FM services including facilities management; portering, security and cleaning services; operational mail and waste services; and logistics.

We are seeking an outstanding candidate with a degree in a relevant field, such as facilities management, engineering, or business administration, or equivalent, relevant experience. Applicants will be able to demonstrate significant experience of working in a large/complex organisation (preferably in the FM/Services sector) at a senior management level, including the effective management of resources and budgetary responsibility. You will have experience of leading high performing teams including cross disciplinary teams and delivering staff communications within a complex organisation and the ability to negotiate and influence at a senior level. Above all, a commitment to the mission, values and ethos of the EFM, the University, and the communities it serves, will be vital.

If you are a dynamic and driven individual with a passion for facilities management and a desire to make a real impact, then we want to hear from you.
