The National Portrait Gallery houses a unique collection of all forms of portraiture of the people who have made or are currently contributing to British history and culture; the collection is the most comprehensive of its kind in the world. With around 2 million visitors each year prior to temporary closure for the Inspiring People project and a strong national and international presence through touring exhibitions and special projects, the Gallery is one of the country’s most important and popular galleries.
Reporting to the Head of Estates and Operations, the MEP Engineer plays a key role at the National Portrait Gallery as part of the Gallery’s operational team.
The postholder will be responsible for providing technical MEP advice and the effective delivery of all Gallery MEP systems. As well as supporting the management team with the successful implementation of an MEP strategy on completion of the Gallery’s Inspiring People Project and return to full Gallery re-opening.
The successful candidate will have experience of supervising engineering services and infrastructure within a museum, large visitor attraction or similar medium to large organisation. They will be customer focussed and hold results orientated leadership/management experience and project management experience.
