Finegreen are supporting an NHS organisation in the West Midlands to appoint an Estates Officer (Engineering).

The post will be for an interim period of 3 – 6 months, with an hourly rate of £29.53 - £34.65.

The post holder will support the Estates Manager, provide and receive complex, sensitive information, and instruction. Give advice and training to works staff and customers, which at times require motivational and persuasive skills.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Checking and authorising of energy bills across the two main organisation’s whom they provide this service;
  • Updating Condition Surveys for all Mechanical & Electrical services, including site visits and consultation with suppliers and manufacturers;
  • Developing budget costs and timescales for planning and financial consideration. Draft reports for various bodies regarding condition of Mechanical & Electrical services and at times the buildings themselves;
  • Problem solving for faults, and design issues as well as developing continuous improvement and energy cost savings;
  • Develop specifications for repairs and new installations, including planning and prioritising work, costings, timescales and seeking the appropriate funding;
  • Drafting specifications and developing drawings using AutoCAD as well as control of budget and funding resources;
  • Authorised signatory for financial payments for engineering equipment and work invoices working to departmental/service budgets;
  • Develop Planning Preventative Maintenance (PPM) plans for both keeping equipment in optimum condition and fulfil legal and statutory requirements;
  • Provide training and instruction to staff and colleagues, etc, on new equipment and technology;
  • Working at heights, moving equipment and carrying out equipment testing, working in confined spaces, roof voids, loft spaces, boiler houses and service ducts;
  • Able to support and assist Estates Officer (Building) with building schemes and surveys, including attending site meetings, supervising contractors dealing with staff, customers and the public.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Technical Apprenticeship with a minimum of 5 years specialised building and engineering which would equate to a BSc (Hons) degree level;
  • Multi-skilled Engineer;
  • Willingness to progress and learn new skills;
  • Experience in a Supervisory and/or Management position, controlling all trades, contractors, consultants, and financial budgets;
  • Ability to deal with Contractors and site staff at all levels on a professional basis;
  • Team player, but confident working alone.
