Business Support Services Branch provides a wide range of specialist support to GMP in order to enable the Force to provide the best possible service to the public of Greater Manchester

The Facilities Section is made up of various units. All of these assist the Force in tackling crime by ensuring that GMP Officers and Police Staff are equipped with the right buildings, facilities and equipment to provide the most proficient and supportive service available.

Facilities Staff are committed to promoting and enhancing the appearance and condition of the GMP Estate and to improving the processes by which we deliver services in support our customers' objectives.

Working as one of three Principal Facilities Managers leading the facilities team, you will have a technical background in hard FM, ideally Mechanical or HVAC and minimum HND in a Building Services Mechanical Engineering subject

The principal FMs lead the facilities team in the delivery of PPM and reactive maintenance for all of GMPs estate; you will ensure legislative and regulatory standards are delivered meeting service level agreements and ensuring GMPs legal compliance.

You will take the lead on the delivery of all operational Facilities Management services to the agreed service level whether delivered in-house or by a Service Provider.
Optimise the delivery of services to improve quality and value for money. Providing visible and active leadership in the delivery of change within the Business Support Services Branch.
Promoting FM policies, practices and decisions which recognise the current and evolving needs of all the stakeholders.

Proactive decision making to create value and operational effectiveness on behalf of Business Support Services Branch.

Extensive knowledge of building maintenance in a mechanical engineering environment.

Knowledge and experience in the operation of relevant statutory legislation and regulations in a mechanical engineering environment.

BOHS P901 Legionella – Management and Control of Building Hot and Cold Water Services.

Management experience of asbestos in buildings.

Management experience of PFI schemes both construction and service phases.

Awareness of trends in Facilities Management.

Detailed knowledge and experience in the operation of relevant statutory regulations, including health & safety matters.
